TGS and Chicago Gaming United team up for an epic high school NBA2K tournament.VANCOUVER (BC) on Sept. 30 2020/CNW/ TGS Esports Inc. and Chicago Gaming United have teamed together to produce an exciting NBA2K tournament for Chicagoland high school students. The winners of each division will receive academic scholarships.
“School isn’t only about education. It’s also about friends as well as sports and, most importantly, forming communities. TGS CEO Spiro Khouri, said the pandemic has shown teenagers how important these connections are. “Esports fulfilled that need, in a time when the world was in a lull. This event is an opportunity to bring children from all over the globe together for one huge event.”
The tournament will feature a PlayStation and Xbox division and will take place online over the weekend between November 7-8 and November 14-15. The final round, which will be comprised of the Elite 8 in each division is scheduled for the weekend of November 21-22. The stream will be live via TGS’ Twitch channel. TGS will organize the tournament and offer professional management of the tournament and production.
A portion will be given to three nonprofits in addition to the scholarships. They include Cxmmunity which is focused on Buy 2K MT PS4 enhancing the participation of minorities to esports; Beyond Sports foundation, which aims to translate athletic capabilities into real world opportunity and That Harper Kid, a foundation that was founded by Linnae Harper, a former Chicago Sky guard, to aid local youth.
