I know they said it would be a lot of work to switch the body version, but I don’t find it being impossible to update the faces and features. It would not alter the dimensions or height/position so it should not influence any gear. Reminder: Chat-heads really are a thing, and there’s an insanely massive amount of OSRS GP. Consider your participant kit: hairstyle, beardhair colour. The majority of those would have to be changed to reflect the new models – also female characters have horse legs. If they are going to update the head, they may too update the body – which, again, is a huge undertaking.
Okay but like if every gambling company said it’d be a lot of work to upgrade models all MMOs would still have models from the early 2000s. There comes a time once the face of your game is so obsolete and ugly that its hurting your brand a good deal. Tell me someone who doesnt play Runescape will examine the character on the right and be like”looks trendy want perform”. I meanthis game is built upon almost ancient coding techniques along with a habit in-house system. That being said – I agree that they could do something – but I’m simply stating why they said they would not, and it, at least marginally, logically makes sense.
(And let’s be fair, the money that you spend doesn’t actually return into Runescape like it should, so GL.) Its extremely depressing that theres so many updates/suggestions that cant veen be contemplated because engine work or old coding. I get its hard but at precisely the exact same time cant just stay secured where we are because of these reasons, something needs to occur. 1 evening there’ll be an immense, gamebreaking bug (something Runescape cant recover from or changes it forever, like the dupe glitch x100) due to the Knee code nightmare.
You have the well respected veteran coder turned manager and he’s behind using a proprietary or exceptionally uncommon code speech. However, you wouldn’t know if there were ways to make it work anyway, since it’s all undocumented.
In the majority of cases I have noticed, the developers in that situation wind up getting replaced by an outsourced replacement application. This part would be challenging considering the application is the entire company and it is habit IP, but I can imagine there are several billion tech consultencies that winrsgold could tell Jagex they can convert all Runescape into -fit well known programming language- at the click of a button, since that is what tech consultents always say to obtain a contract. It’s possible they’ve already wasted their money with companies like that.
