The full NBA 2K21 trailer released on Thursday morning, and it gave the longest appearance in the game on the current-generation systems to fans. The trailer stars cover athlete Damian Lillard and Portland Trail Blazers star. It is a flattened meter, but it’s unclear how this will impact shot accuracy. I have no view on it at this stage, but you can bet it will be among the most. NBA 2K21 was largely developed through a pandemic, and the current-gen variant is coming out just a couple of months before a next-gen version that must be radically better–at least in a visual perspective.
My expectations are tempered for some facets of the versions, because of that. I’m not anticipating a graphical leap, and that confirmed from the trailer. Additionally, the NBA Draft nor free agency will have happened, so rosters can’t be upgraded beyond what we’re seeing from the NBA’s Bubble action. Post-release roster upgrades are very likely to come after the next-gen version is available–based on when or when the 2020-21 season starts. Because of all these items, I anticipate 2K to provide blow-out versions of their existing modes (MyGM, MyLeague, MyTeam, MyCareer (The Neighborhood, that is apparently turning into The World), and more.
Without taking steps NBA 2K21 will look like NBA 2K21. That’s speculation, although the Neighborhood clip shows something called 2K Beach which seems to lead to a new set of courts. Another bit of speculation centers around this notion. 2K makes the point of accentuating players from different countries and even puts the titles of distinct nations on the monitor. This seems the Neighborhood might become The World. We’ll find out shortly.
After many fans raised concerns regarding this cost means for matches, and NBA2king even next-gen video games in general, Zelnick has given the opportunity to explain this impactful choice and assist countless players make peace with this price point. Rather, Zelnick provided something…somewhat less reassuring.
